چکیده

Purpose Early operative reconstruction using titanium mesh is a technique often used for preventing sequelae after an orbital fracture. We sought to examine the utility of patient-specific molding with biomodel via virtual mirroring nonaffected side. Methods retrospectively assessed clinical and radiological outcomes fracture customized shaped on 3D-printed biomodels in 34 unilateral cases. Preoperative images, technique, were superimposed postoperative 3D data from patient charts analyzed. Orbital reconstructions rated, intention revise results intraoperatively, or during inpatient outpatient phases, was by 2 consultants residents. Results found that most fractures arose falls <3 meters interpersonal violence. Ophthalmic injuries included subconjunctival bleeding, ocular contusion, enophthalmos, diplopia. Long-term at last followup diplopia (8.8%) mild enophthalmos (11.8%). Conclusion Interrater reliabilities regarding consultants' substantial almost perfect any time point. Therefore, fractured orbit customize commercial implants yields good reliable results, enhances surgical precision, decreases need intraoperative revision, as well long-term fractures.

Virtual surgical planning and 3D printing in prosthetic orbital reconstruction with percutaneous implants: a technical case report

Osseointegrated titanium implants to the cranial skeleton for retention of facial prostheses have proven to be a reliable replacement for adhesive systems. However, improper placement of the implants can jeopardize prosthetic outcomes, and long-term success of an implant-retained prosthesis. Three-dimensional (3D) computer imaging, virtual planning, and 3D printing have become accepted componen...

Preformed vs intraoperative bending of titanium mesh for orbital reconstruction.

OBJECTIVE The most accurate orbital reconstructions result from an anatomic repair of the premorbid orbital architecture. Many different techniques and materials have been used; unfortunately, there is currently no optimal method. This study compares the use of preformed vs intraoperative bending of titanium mesh for orbital reconstruction in 2-wall orbital fractures. STUDY DESIGN Cadaver-bas...
